El Oro y la Sangre es un microcosmos del país. Un indígena emberá halla una mina de oro y sobre su comunidad se precipita una legión de aventureros, comerciantes, estafadores y guerrilleros. Después de los primeros muertos la ambición por el oro desemboca en una guerra en la que los contendientes y las víctimas los ponen los indígenas. Entonces interviene todo el mundo: la Iglesia, el gobierno, la policía, el ejército, la comisión de paz, la de asuntos indígena, la de derechos humanos... Mientras tanto el rosario de muertes se sigue desgranando. Enloquecidos por la súbita bonanza, los indígenas descubren un día el avión y se dedican a volar días enteros, o a comprar prostitutas por docenas y a mandarse a teñir el pelo del color del oro. En el tránsito final, un comando guerrillero logra imponer un ilusorio período de calma |
