"En esta novela de carácter regional, un caballo de nombre Moro cuenta «autobiográficamente» todas sus aventuras desde el nacimiento hasta la muerte, junto con la de otros amigos equinos. Esta novela es la única de la literatura colombiana que a través de la mirada de un animal, sin pretensiones de ser humano y de actuar como tal, narra en primera persona sus pesares y alegrías en medio de la naturaleza, los hombres y la urbe. El Moro surge de la tierra, de sus ríos y veredas llenas de árboles y lloviznas sabaneras; el abandono de las haciendas y el paso a la ciudad son siempre causas de las penurias del protagonista. Escrita en el más puro castellano, posee, por demás, el contexto de esta novela la tácita intención de transmitir el contrastado relieve existente entre la animalidad de los hombres y la paciente y noble bondad de las bestias" |
