"Primer libro de narrativa no-ficción publicado en Colombia. Después vinieron Mi alma se la dejo al diablo, El karina y otros títulos del mismo autor que hoy abarcan decenas de ediciones en diferentes idiomas. A lo largo del relato, a la par con la epopeya de Gil, surge un mundo tan desconocido como es la selva amazónica con algunos de sus secretos, su fauna, la flora más rica de la tierra, la sabiduría de las culturas indígenas que la habitan, el tiempo eterno, traducidos por el autor luego de haber estado sumergido durante más de un año en aquellos parajes. En el relato no han sido cambiados nombres de personas ni lugares ni se han creado situaciones ficticias: ¿para qué, si aquella realidad supera la fantasía? Como complemento, el libro contiene fotografías de miembros de la tribu, entonces desconocida, de los protagonistas de la historia y de los lugares, y mapas que ubican los escenarios donde ocurrieron los diferentes episodios". |
