En esta novela biográfica, Alonso Sánchez Baute reconstruye la vida de uno de los personajes más legendarios y entrañables de la escena del vallenato en Colombia: el maestro Leandro Díaz. A partir de hechos reales -producto de una exhaustiva indagación en la vida y obra del maestro Díaz- y de su profundo conocimiento de la región del Valle de Upar, el autor consigue trazar el retrato vibrante de un hombre que nació ciego en un pueblo remoto y perdido en donde la discapacidad era considerada un castigo. A pesar de la distancia y el abandono de sus padres en sus primeros años, Leandro encontró una pasión: la música, y llegó a convertirse en el compositor de algunos de los más hermosos y conocidos vallenatos de Colombia. Las voces de sus familiares y amigos, los sonidos de las aves y de la radio, y los recuerdos de muchas mujeres a las que deseó a lo largo de su vida, forman un rico mosaico de los pueblos y amores que inspiraron en Leandro cantos como "La diosa coronada", "Matilde Lina" y "A mí no me consuela nadie", entre muchos otros. |
