Kaaliawiri, el árbol de la vida es un antiguo relato acerca del origen de los alimentos y la biodiversidad de la selva amazónica. Para los indígenas Piapoco, sus pobladores ancestrales, todo empezó cuando Kutzi, el mono de la noche, descubrió una deliciosa piña en las ramas de un árbol inmenso. La historia, heredada de generación en generación, fue narrada por Freddy Rojas, sabedor piapoco, a Francisco Ortiz, etnólogo y miembro fundador de Etnollano, organización que durante 40 años ha acompañado procesos de autonomía y gobierno en comunidades de los Llanos Orientales y la Amazonia. En este relato, donde las palabras y las ilustraciones nos llevan por la naturaleza y los animales que primero poblaron nuestro mundo, veremos cómo surgieron frutos como la yuca, la piña, la batata, el chontaduro, el maíz, el seje, la manaca y una gran variedad de alimentos que hoy son esenciales para millones de personas. El trabajo en equipo, la labor que requiere la tierra y el compartir de los saberes ancestrales, son esenciales en esta versión del origen de los animales, la humanidad, el clima y los alimentos. |
